Wrestling in London Olympic


Wrestling is a physical competition, between two competitors or sparring partners, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position.  It is also the one of the game that you will watch at London Olympics.

In 2012 Summer Olympics, it will be held between 5th August and 12th August. The competition consists of two disciplines – Greco-Roman, where athletes use their upper bodies and arms only, and Freestyle, where athletes can use any part of their bodies. And, they are further divided into different weight categories. Men will compete in both disciplines whereas women will only take part in the freestyle events, with 18 gold medals being awarded. It has been contested at every modern 2012 Olympic except Paris 1900. The London 2012 wrestling action gets underway at Excel which will also host six other Olympic competitions, on 5 August, with the final sessions taking place on 12 August, the last day of the Games. In 2012 Olympics, a total of 344 wrestlers will compete across 18 medal events. These include seven Greco-Roman events for men and 11 Freestyle events, including seven for men and four for women.
